Specialists help retailers tackle security issues

30 May, 2008

Law firm Weightmans has teamed up with specialists in workplace violence and conflict resolution,

Maybo

and Skills for Security, to host a

security and loss prevention seminar for retailers.

The British Retail Consortium's 2007 Annual Crime Survey revealed a 50% increase in violent attacks on store workers and a similar increase in the number of violent threats against staff. In the

past two years , shop assistants and security staff have even died following such violent attacks.

The seminar, titled Assault Reduction & Safer Intervention, will provide retailers with guidance on reducing the risk of violence and abuse to staff.

Topics will touch on staff interventions, legal and insurance issues, how to manage serious incidents and aspects of wrongful arrests and detention.

The free seminar will take place on June 19 at Browns Courtrooms in Covent Garden , London.
