The Carlsberg and Heineken Consortium has officially completed its acquisition of Scottish & Newcastle.

The Carlsberg and Heineken Consortium has officially completed its £7.8 billion takeover of Scottish & Newcastle.

The Edinburgh-based brewer closed its doors this morning as S&N after 250 years of brewing under that name.

Under the terms of the deal Carlsberg will acquire S&N's 50% of the BBH joint venture, Brasseries Kronenbourg in France, Mythos in Greece and S&N's investments in Vietnam and China.

Heineken will acquire S&N UK, Central de Cervejas in Portugal, Hartwall in Finland, Alken Maes in Belgium, the majority of S&N's export markets and the company's investment in United Breweries in India.

Following the acquisition, S&N managing director Jeremy Blood, was appointed managing director of Heinekenís UK business.

Blood will remain in Edinburgh and report to Didier Debrosse, Heinekenís regional president of Western Europe.
