Elephant Gin gets 'elephant strength' sibling
Elephant Gin is set to get an “elephant strength’ variant, which is said to be more powerful, intense and full-bodied than the original
Elephant Strength Gin is a 57% abv navy strength gin; a variation of the original Elephant London Dry Gin. The new variant is described as being stronger and mightier than the original, “amplifying the aroma and fragrance of the unique mixture of botanicals”, yet retaining the same smooth and balanced character.
The gin is handcrafted in Germany and distilled using 14 botanicals, including rare African ingredients.
In addition to the juniper aroma, African Buchu introduces a flavour similar to blackcurrant, while the African Wormwood comes with a sharp floral note. These flavours are combined with mountain pine and fresh apple, sourced from the orchards surrounding the distillery.
The new gin (rrp: £37.60) follows last year’s launch of Elephant Sloe Gin, which was limited to 1,500 bottles.
The original London Dry Gin variant was founded as a means of raising money for the protection of African elephants with 15% of all proceeds going to two African foundations.
