Win a trip to Brazil with wine display

There’s a chance for one lucky retailer to win a trip to Brazil to see some of its top wineries in the 2017 Window Display Competition, run by Drinks Retailing News in conjunction with Wines of Brasil.

Last year’s competition was won by Archie McDiarmid of Luvians in St Andrews and he’s jetting off to experience the vibrancy and excitement of the South American country in August.

Luvians themed its display around the Rio Olympics and staff recreated British medal-winning events using bottles and wine accessories as props. McDiarmid added: “We opened a bottle of wine every day that Britain won a gold medal, which meant we had a bottle open for customers to try pretty much every day for two weeks. We got through a lot of wine.”

It will be his first visit to Brazil.

“We’ve developed a pocket range as a result of last year’s promotion and to see what’s going on there, especially with sparkling wine, is going to be particularly interesting.

“I’m also looking forward to getting a feel for the different varieties used and the way terroir and site selection is being handled in various regions.”

This year, Wines of Brasil is supplying retailers with special POS packs containing a flag, leaflets, T-shirts, coloured glasses, pens, luggage tags, a beach towel and a map.

Promotions have to be run for two weeks between June 15 and September 15, and the competition will be judged on photos from the event, its impact on sales and how shops raised awareness of Brazilian wines.

There is also a runner-up prize of two cases of Brazilian wine, with one case for third.
