North South Wines adds to its Chilean portfolio

North South Wines has added Viña Ventisquero’s Kalfu brand to its portfolio of Chilean wines.

The lower alcohol Kalfu range, by renowned winemaker Alejandro Galaz, was first introduced in 2015. The name means ‘blue’ in the Mapuche language, in recognition of the 1,000 kilometres of coastal vineyards that the grapes for the nine wines are sourced from.

Americo Hernandez, key account director at Viña Ventisquero, said: “North South Wines successfully established themselves in the UK just three years ago. We have been tracking them since then, and their growth has been impressive. They are a very good fit for Kalfu.”

Buying and marketing director, Joy Edmondson, said: “Viña Ventisquero has a fantastic set up and a brilliant team. It has been great to discover so many synergies with ourselves – VV is innovative, quick, fun to work with an has an exceptional portfolio of wines.”

The appointment of North South Wines is part of a new UK business strategry for the Chilean winery.  In the UK the company already has volume brands such as Yali, as well as its flagship Pangea, Enclave and Vertice. The winery recently added boutique production Tara to its offering, crafter from its owned vineyards in the Atacama Desert.
