Indian-inspired Five Rivers rum arrives in UK

Sanghera Rum Company is gearing up to launch the UK’s first flavouted white rum using premium Punjabi sugarcane.

Five Rivers rum, which is available from this month, was created for the UK by entrepreneur Taj Sanghera. The rum is based on an old family recipe, which has been produced by the Sanghera family for more than 150 years.

Five Rivers, named after the five rivers at the foothills of the Himalayas, is distilled from ‘gur’, which is made using Indian sugarcane juice, which is then fused with the natural flavours of fresh orange and green grape.

Taj Sanghera said: “I am honoured to bring my ancestors’ recipe to the market. Back home in India people love rum, it is a big part of our culture. I am really excited to be able to bring the distinctive Indian-style rum to the UK for the first time.”

Five Rivers is priced £35 for a 75cl bottle.
