Lidl releases more tickets for 'sell out' pop-up gin bars

Lidl has made new tickets available for its premium pop-up gin bars after the original batch sold out within 24 hours.

News of The Lidl House of Hortus artisan gin pop-up bars broke on October 9th but tickets sold out within 24 hours, leading to a barrage of calls from customers asking for more tickets to become available.

The retailer has now announced that it will be making further tickets available from 6pm this evening for all locations.

The pop-up gin bar concept will be undertaking a nationwide tour, featuring a sensory Botanical Garden, a Pink Gin Liqueur Lounge and a Spirits in the Sky bar. The bar will launch in London on 26 and 27 October before visiting Cardiff and Edinburgh throughout November.

Visitors will be able to sample both new and existing gins from the retailer’s Hortus range, served by a dedicated team of ‘Hortus-Culturalists’, and mixologists, who will offer guests a customised gin and botanical pairing experience.

Ticket-holders will also receive two free-pour serves of Lidl’s Hortus gin or other spirits. Hortus Gin Liqueurs will be available to sample in the Pink Gin Liqueur Lounge.

Paul McQuade, head of spirits buying at Lidl UK, said: “The nation’s love of gin shows no signs of slowing down, so we have decided to listen to the fantastic response from our customers and take our innovative own-label Hortus premium Gin range on the road and invite everyone to come try our superb range of Gins.

“We have placed a huge emphasis on strengthening and diversifying our ever-growing spirits range, specifically our award-winning Hortus gin offering, and were recently crowned Supermarket Own Branded Spirits Range of the Year at the International Spirits Challenge in July.

“The festive season countdown has officially started and The House of Hortus will help us give our customers a sneak peek at the exciting new and existing spirits and liqueurs that we have in stores.”

Lidl saw a 40% rise in gin sales this year. The retailer also said it sold 400 bottles per hour of its Gin Liqueurs in the run up to Christmas last year, equating to seven bottles a minute.

The Lidl House of Hortus tour is a free, ticketed event. The new tickets can be booked via EventBrite from 6pm today: http://lidlhoh.eventbrite.co.uk
