Mr Black Coffee Liqueur reveals plans to extend UK reach

Mr Black Coffee Liqueur has joined Proof Drinks as part of its strategy to secure off-trade listings, following a successful debut for the brand in the UK’s on-trade.

The drink is already in a number of top bars in the UK, including Swift, American Bar at The Savoy and Happiness Forgets. It has now joined the Proof Drinks portfolio to extend its reach across the UK.

Mr Black originated in Sydney, Australia, when distiller Philip Moore met Tom Baker, “coffee-nerd” and designer. The two joined forces and founded Mr Black to extend coffee culture into the night.

Mr Black is a premium cold brew coffee liqueur handmade in Sydney, Australia. Mr Black Amaro, the brand’s special edition, takes inspiration from classic Italian Amaro and Australian coffee culture. It is described as a “bittersweet” blend of 14 bitters, botanicals and Arabica coffee.

Jeremy Hill, chief executive of Proof Drinks, said: “This is not a case of brand serendipity; we wrote down a list of key brands we wanted in our business and set out to model ourselves towards being their perfect distribution platform. We are delighted to say that Mr Black was one of the first on our list.”

Meanwhile, Quick Brown Fox, the coffee liqueur from New Zealand, is also looking to attract off-trade consumers. The brand has recently secured a listing in Majestic stores.
