Global Brands reveals premium spirits division
Global Brands has opened a new premium spirit division called Inspirit to capitalise on the growing trend for premium drinks.
Inspirit launches with a range of gins on board, spanning five distilleries, as well plans to explore the categories of rum, tequila, whisky and low and no-alcohol.
The portfolio initially comprises: Rock Rose Gin, Mistral Gin, Gin Raw, Didsbury Gin, Teichenne Gin and Liqueurs, Holy Grass Vodka and Bobanto Aperitivo.
The Inspirit team is led by commercial manager Tim Garratt.
He said: “The initial focus of the Inspirit Portfolio will be celebrating the growth and popularity of gin in the spirit industry, but we are actively looking for like-minded brands, especially within rum, tequila and whisky. With a range of British and European distilleries included in our portfolio, Inspirit offers a choice of styles each with a distinctive point of difference, from natural flavourings to gastronomic techniques and from locally-sourced in Scotland to botanicals found in Provence.”
Spirits now account for £11.1 billion sales in the UK drinks market (WSTA 2018) with Premium Spirit growth a significant driving factor in this, with 81% of new spirits launched in 2018 occupying the premium and super-premium segments (CGA 2018).
In 2019 alone, British consumers bought 76 million bottles of gin worth £2.3 billion, this combined with exports, values the UK gin category at a staggering £3billion (HMRC 2019).
Inspirit has been launched to enter the market with a carefully selected portfolio of handcrafted products from master distilleries.
Global Brands founder and chairman, Steve Perez, said: “Our Inspirit team will operate as a separate business unit, but will utilise the expertise of the Global Brands network, including our Franklin & Sons team, whose range of premium quality tonics, mixers and soft drinks are now sold in 53 countries.
“Franklin & Sons will however continue to work closely in collaboration with spirit partners at trade and consumer shows and tastings.
“The UK’s demand for premium quality spirits and serves continues to rise and we want to ensure we remain at the forefront of these industry trends through the Inspirit team.”
