The Drinks Trust creates Covid-19 industry support campaign
The Drinks Trust - formerly The Benevolent - is launching a campaign to support those in the industry through the weeks ahead, as people across the country adapt their daily lives to deal with the threat of coronavirus.
The organisation said: “We are specifically fundraising to increase the capacity of the helpline and the volume of complimentary therapies we are delivering. Having thought about how best to assist the drinks industry, and given that there is so much uncertainty, we are dedicated to helping people with the anxiety they may be facing as a result, and to help them to manage this.
“We will continue to support people financially where we can, but the volume of people who may be affected makes the cost of financial support very challenging, particularly given we are a small charity.”
As a result of this it is asking those in the industry who are able to, to make donations to the campaign in order to support colleagues who are facing “significant challenges and uncertainty”.
It added: “We are also asking all businesses in the industry who can, to renew or become business partners of The Drinks Trust. These funds will help support the most vulnerable in our industry and also increase the services and support the Trust is now dedicated to delivering.”
The Drinks Trust said those in need can access support via its helpline. It will be increasing grants for telephone therapy five-fold in the coming weeks.
The Benevolent changed its name to The Drinks Trust earlier this month.
