Cardrona Distillery adds to its Just Hatched single malt collection
Cardrona Distillery has this month released two new single cask expressions of its Just Hatched single malt whisky.
The two new limited release expressions are both drawn from limited 2016 stocks at the Cardrona Distillery, located in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. One ex-Mt Difficulty Pinot Noir barrique and one ex-Old Forester Bourbon barrel.
Just Hatched, which is hand-crafted and bottled by Cardrona Distillery, is already proving popular amongst UK whisky experts, according to the producer,
Talking about the new expressions, Cardrona Distillery chief executive, Desiree Whitaker, said: “Just Hatched has proven really popular amongst discerning whisky lovers to date, so we are therefore thrilled to release very limited quantities of these two new expressions into the UK market.
“Just Hatched has been praised for its structure and balance and so far these expressions have been equally as popular, selling out in New Zealand in just three days. We hope they spark the same excitement and enjoyment in the UK market.”
The Cardrona Single Malt Whisky “Mt. Difficulty Pinot Noir Aged” (rsp: £75 for 35cl) is matured in ex-Mt Difficulty Pinot Noir casks for three years and bottled at natural cask strength. The spirit is rich with Black Doris plum, almond, toffee and spice.
The Cardrona Single Malt Whisky "Bourbon Aged" (rsp: £75 for 35cl) is matured in Old Forester ex-bourbon casks for three years and bottled at natural cask strength. It is described as “a marriage of cracked créme brûlée, sweetened with borage flower honey.”

Other spirits in Cardrona Distillery’s line-up include the reid Single Malt Vodka, The Source Gin, and Rose Rabbit liqueur, which is available in Orange, Butterscotch and Elderflower flavour.
