Bootleg vodka is a potential danger

Potentially lethal bootleg vodka made from industrial -strength alcohol has been found in Slough.

The vodka, labelled 1806 Christoff 100 per cent Pure Grain, came from an illegal manufacturing plant in Cardiff which was raided last year.

During a Trading Standards investigation into counterfeit spirits, 15 bottles were found in the borough. Tests carried out on the vodka revealed that its methanol content is

much higher than normal

and

if consumed, it would be harmful to human health.

A number of bottles are still in circulation and residents are being warned not to drink it, according to Peter Adshead, senior trading standards officer for Slough Borough Council.
