Industry mourns 'genius' writer Jackson
Highly-respected drinks writer Michael Jackson has died at the age of 65.
Jackson specialised in beer and whisky writing. His bibliography includes the Encyclopaedia of Whisky and the Great Beer Guide.
Tributes have been left on the British Guild of Beer Writers’ website.
Writer Roger Protz said: “He was the best and always will be the best. His genius was to be able to write simply and beautifully about beer.”
Meantime brewery founder Alastair Hook said: “To me he was the great inspiration, he turned base metal into gold with his writing. Not only was it full of articulate observation of the character of beer itself, but it wove in to its nature the history of the peoples and society that created it.”
Jackson died at his London home on Aug 30. Details of the funeral have not yet been confirmed.
