McGuigan brings City Vineyard to Dublin
Australian Vintage is bringing its McGuigan City Vineyard installation to Dublin during summer 2012. The Australian winery said it will take members of the UK trade to the event, which represents a £250,000 investment.
Australian Vintage built its first City Vineyard – rows of 50-year-old vines in turf, next to a “cellar door” bar and shop – in London’s Broadgate Arena in 2008.
Chief executive Neil McGuigan told OLN: “We are the number two brand in the Republic of Ireland and we think there are still massive opportunities there. We can get people across who missed out in London.”
He was in London to accept the IWSC award for Winemaker of the Year for the second time in three years.
“If we don’t capitalise on this amazing result we are mad,” McGuigan said. “These types of events bring an experience to people. People need to develop a relationship with a brand.
“If you are in Australia and go to the Hunter Valley or Barossa you develop a relationship with it.” He said the City Vineyard offers that experience to people who can’t get out to Australia’s vineyards.
McGuigan insisted his award was “a team effort”.
