Lyme Bay teams up with Morrisons to create own-label English wine

Lyme Bay Winery has teamed up with Morrisons to launch an English Dry White wine, which will feature as part of the retailer’s The Best wine collection.

The wine is made using the Bacchus grape to create “a green-fruited herbaceous wine reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc that is deliciously crisp with notes of elderflower, gooseberry and green apple”.

Clive Donaldson, senior wine sourcing manager, Morrisons, said: “Our The Best wine collection is something we are enormously proud of. Our passionate and expert team source wines of exceptional quality from the world’s best producers, including Lyme Bay.

“The chance to collaborate with Lyme Bay Winery was something we were very keen to do and we are absolutely delighted with the result. They are a producer with an outstanding track record of award-winning English wines so it was an easy decision to work with them as we introduce our consumers to the excellent wines being produced in this country.”

Sara Walters, Lyme Bay’s national account manager, said: “It is very exciting to be a partner of Morrisons. Their wine offer is exceptional and to be the producer selected for their first English wine is quite an honour. We will work with them to introduce more people to the character and quality of wines produced in this country.

“We are experts in flavour and with Morrisons we have created something very special, which certainly lives up to the billing of The Best.”

The wine is stocked nationally in 300 Morrisons stores and costs £14 per bottle.
